Welcome to Strange Love, Oakland’s alternative nail studio! Our private nail studio is by appointment only.
We specialize in nail art, long-lasting manicures on natural nails, structured hard gel & soft gel Après Nail extensions. We pride ourselves on being a squeaky-clean salon & staying on top of new nail trends. No overfilling of your nails happens here and we NEVER use files and buffers on more than one client (you can even take them home for free after your appointment!). Desks and implements are cleaned after each client with hospital-grade cleaning products.

The studio is located in the Piedmont area at 11 Croxton Ave, Oakland, California, 94611. There is plenty of free street parking but this is Oakland so please, never leave ANYTHING in your car.

Vanessa is the owner of Strange Love and has been doing nails since early 2018.
She loves a good long stiletto and Japanese-inspired abstract art & specializes in Vegan and cruelty-free products.
When not doing nails she is most likely hanging out in a cemetery, thrifting, traveling, or cuddling her Boston Terrier Larry. (He might also make appearances at the shop!).

Favorite item of clothing you own? All my fuzzy jackets. Especially my black long-haired Stella McCartney. My vintage t-shirt collection.
What era do you wish you were born in? I was born in the ’80s but I wish I could have been a teenager/adult then. Please take me back to all the goth clubs.
Random fun fact: French is my first language.

Weird things you collect: I don’t know where to start. I have a giant collection of vintage T-shirts. Embalming fluid bottles. House plants. Antique religious art. Taxidermy.

Rosco’s pronouns are he/him. He’s new to the beauty industry, but he’s been creating art for most of his life. In the past, he practiced drawing, painting, photography, pottery/sculpting, and leatherwork. Currently, he plays music, makes jewelry and now he does nail art! With visual art, his inspirations come from punk, goth, and metal subcultures, and his ancestral heritage of Native American + Mexican. He also identifies as Queer and loves exploring ways to represent this identity in his art.
In a nutshell, I'm super excited to continue sharing my artistic visions with the world and help other people live their best nail art lives.
When not doing nails he can be found playing music in one of his bands, attending some kind of queer social event, or spending time with his partner and their dog.
